Presentation Secondary School
SportsBADMINTON
Recreational Badminton is offered in the school every Thursday at lunch. This is a very popular activity welcoming all year groups and all abilities to come and play.
The Badminton team have been very successful over the years. Our U16 and U19 teams are currently Kerry champions while our U16s are Munster champions and represented the Provence in the All Irelands in March, finishing second in the competition.
FOOTBALL
In the last academic year we have both Junior and Senior Football Teams.
BASKETBALL
At Pres Listowel we currently have basketball teams at all grades, minor, junior, cadette and senior. These age groups cater for all students in the school allowing everyone the opportunity to represent the school.
The school competes in the South West Regional league which caters for schools in Kerry, Limerick and Clare. The school has seen great success on the basketball courts in recent years. Up until 2022 the school was competing at C grade, however, following the success of our Junior team in the 2021-2022 academic year and our minor basketball team in 2023-2024 Academic year the school now competes in A grade basketball.
South West Leagues take place before and after Christmas. In term 1 cadette and senior leagues take place while in term 2 minor and junior leagues begin ensuring a busy basketball schedule all year.
Teams normally train after school as well as some lunchtimes.
SOCCER
After a shortened league campaign due to postponements and harsh winter for pitches, Presentation Secondary School Listowel played Desmond College in Newcastlewest on the 19th of May in the junior division final in Shannonside League.
With a young squad, we went behind early in the first half but fought back to level matters with Hannah Healy deflected a goal just before half time. Presentation went on to dominate the second half with goals from Aishling Kelly and Máiréad McKenna. Aishling’s 35 yeard free kick into the top corner was the pick of the bunch. Final score 3:1.
Great performances all round from a group of exceptional players who are all underage again next year.
