A Year to Remember: TY Students at Pres Listowel Shine Across Ireland

A Year to Remember: TY Students at Pres Listowel Shine Across Ireland

Transition Year students at Presentation Secondary School Listowel have had an exceptional year filled with achievement, creativity, and meaningful experiences, highlighting the strength and diversity of our TY programme.
We are especially proud of Hazel Barrett, who was awarded 1st place nationally in the Gráinne O’Neill Essay Competition, hosted by the Law Society of Ireland. Her outstanding writing skills and thoughtful reflection impressed judges at a national level.
In a powerful display of commitment and compassion, Róisin Corridan, Emilie Browne, Fiona O’Brien, and Niamh O’Keeffe walked over 114km of the Camino de Santiago in aid of Cliona’s Foundation, accompanied by their teacher Ms. Whelan. Their journey combined physical challenge with a strong sense of purpose and teamwork.
Journalism and media skills were also on show as one of our TY groups placed 3rd in the Young Journalist of the Year Awards at the Aviva Stadium, a remarkable platform for young voices.
Molly Linnane demonstrated talent across multiple disciplines—reaching the final of the ActionAid Speech Writing Competition, representing the school in the Junk Kouture Regional Finals. In recognition of her exceptional contribution and leadership throughout the year, Molly was named Transition Year Student of the Year.
Molly Walsh, whose positivity and kindness made a lasting impression, was honoured with the TY Spirit Award, while Michelle O’Callaghan was presented with the TY CEIST Award, celebrating how she truly lived out the CEIST values of compassion, excellence, and inclusion throughout the year.
The spirit of innovation was clear when Róisin Corridan, Maeve Cuddigan, Emilie Browne, and Michelle O’Callaghan won the Overall Award at the Kerry Enterprise Awards, reflecting their drive, creativity, and collaboration.
In the STEM arena, students Molly Whyte, Florence Corridan, Niamh Moloney, Ellen Trant, Molly Walsh, and Rita Digenis were proud finalists in the Fexco STEM Passport for Inclusion programme. Their project, aimed at increasing secondary student participation in the Shoe Box Appeal, has attracted support from the CEO of Fexco, who is now helping to bring their idea to life.
These achievements reflect just a snapshot of what TY at Pres Listowel offers: a dynamic blend of real-world learning, personal development, creativity, and fun. Our TY programme empowers students to step out of their comfort zones and grow as confident, capable young women ready to take on the world.

Díospóireacht an Phiarsaigh

Díospóireacht an Phiarsaigh

Thaistil Aimee Stack, Maggie O’Mahony agus Hayley Holly go Luimneach aréir chun páirt a ghlacadh sa chraobh réigiúnach don chomórtas Díospóireacht an Phiarsaigh. Bhíodar i bhfabhar an rún go bhfuil ár bhféiniúlacht mar náisiúin caillte againn agus d’éirigh thar barr leo lena gcuid argóintí. Faraor, níor éirigh leo ar an oíche ach táimid fíor-bhrodúil as an méid atá bainte amach acu i mbliana.
